P90x Starting Measurements & Fit Test

P90x arrived and now I’m ready to get started and get fit! I read the Fitness Guide and the Nutrition Plan, watched the “Bring It” introductory video, and I went out and bought some protein powder, creatine, resistance bands, and a sweet scale (well it LOOKS sweet, haven’t tried it yet).  It shows your body fat, muscle mass, water mass, bone mass, and of course your weight.

There are several other people that decided to jump in and do P90x, and they are all extremely excited to start and get fit! They all have been wanting to get fit so after they found out that I had bought P90x they said they wanted to follow the program as well.

My Starting P90x Measurements

  • Weight: 182 lbs
  • Waist: 39 inches
  • Hips: 39 inches
  • Bicep Right: 15 inches
  • Bicep Left: 15 inches
  • Thigh Right: 23 inches
  • Thigh Left: 24 inches
  • Body Fat: 21.8%

I’m a little disproportionate in my thighs.  It will be interesting if doing P90x will cause them to balance out.

P90x Fitness Test

Before starting P90x you also have to do a fitness test so you can see if you are fit enough to start it, and also so you can see how much you have improved after the 90 days.

Below is where I’m starting from.

Resting Heart Rate: 68

Pull-Ups: 7 (to pass guys are supposed to be able to do at least 3, ladies 1)

Vertical Leap: 11″ (passing for guys is 5″, ladies 3″)

Push-Ups: 30 (passing for guys is 15, ladies 3 or 15 on knees)

Toe Touch (Flexibility): +1 1/2 (passing is no less than -6″ from toes)

Wall Squat: 1:53 (passing is 1 minute)

Bicep Curls: 50 curls with 20 lbs (passing for guys is 10 curls with 20 lbs, ladies is 10 curls with 8 lbs)

In & Outs: 35 (passing is 25)

Heart Rate Maximizer: 157, 151, 91, 112 (for this one you do 2 minutes of jumping jacks and then record your heart rate every minute for 4 minutes. To pass you should be able to do 2 minutes worth of jumping jacks)

The fitness test was a hard enough workout for me that I am a little worried about how well I’ll handle the first workout tomorrow. As I type this I can feel that my arms are extremely stiff and worn out from the pull-ups, push-ups and bicep curls done in the fitness test.

As the P90x 90 day program starts, I’ll be aiming to post pictures and measurements frequently so anyone interested can see if P90x really works.

I am 99.99999% sure SOMETHING is going to change, so subscribe to my blog and stay tuned! My journey to get fit starts tomorrow!
